    Social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter, have become a primary avenue in distributing information quickly and effectively. At any moment, we can gather information on what’s going on around us. Yet, there is another way that information is being created and distributed daily…through blogs. There are no rules on how to blog, but there are tips that will help yours get noticed.

    Are you aware that there are over 900,000 blog posts created daily? Not only is that number astonishing, but as of July 2011 it was estimated that there were 164 million blogs up from 3 million in 2004.  As new blogging platforms are available, mostly are for free, anyone can create a blog and possibly reach hundreds and thousands of people daily. Like any marketing plan, a blog must be done correctly to ensure that it’s not lost in the shuffle among the thousands of blogs.     Hey Whipple, Squeeze This! That’s a title that will surely make you look twice when passing it in a book store. If it does catch your eye, pick it up. Then buy it, take it home and read it. Learn from it. Sullivan taught me more about the advertising and marketing industry in this book than I would have thought. I had never heard of Luke Sullivan before reading his book, however, there are not many copyrighters that are household names. Sullivan has been in the business about 33 years as a copyrighter and creative director working at agencies like Fallon McElligot and The Martin Agency. Going into this book, I was excited. I was interested to gleen advice from a seasoned professional in the agency, and honestly was expecting it to be a little dryer than it was.

    The amount of changes that FB has launched since they went public has been staggering but the change with the largest impact to advertisers is the ability to promote statuses. Promoting statuses makes sure your message is front and center on your fans’ feeds.

    If you are reading this, I will bet you a nickel you work in advertising (or are a very, very good friend). Since good advertising differentiates itself from other messages, it is a given our industry demands a great deal of creativity. Our job is to inspire potential consumers to modify their behavior and purchase our clients’ goods and services.
